Carica papaya, papaya, pawpaw or pawpaw in Guyana, is available all year.

At The Rs Farm both "red papaya" and "yellow pawpaw" are grown.

The seeds are edible with a spicy flavor. Dried and ground seeds can be used as a substitute for black pepper.
